Two Saffas in Ireland – A new blog post series

Since 01 November 2021, my wife and I have been living in Ireland. We’re both South African citizens who decided to emigrate for personal reasons and for a better life abroad. We also brought over our little corgi, Snoopy! I’m going to start a series about our new adventure in the Emerald Isle. The first couple of posts will be retrospective and informative to try and help others who may be interested in doing the same.

I’ll try to cover a range of topics, including obtaining a work permit to work and live in Ireland, how to get here in terms of flights, as well as some of the paperwork that needs to be done in terms of PPS numbers, exchanging driver’s licences, and sorting out electricity and waste removal for a new home.

At some point in the future the series will hopefully catch up and run concurrently with real life. I’ll add photos and videos as appropriate. The country is lush and beautiful with kind, friendly people all around. To start things off, I’ll add a video of us at the Brownshill Dolmen in County Carlow.
